Serving Plateful of Happiness

Taste changes with age, mood, and places. There are people who like to come alone and have their food in a silent environment, there also exist people who cannot eat without a companion with a little of laughter to accompany. And when they are spending their money, they like to have a little aura suiting their taste.

NRAI IFSR 2016 estimates that the total contribution of the restaurant industry alone will contribute 2.1% to the GDP of India by the year 2021.

Riyaaz Amlani, President, NRAI has said, "The total food services market today stands at INR 3, 09, 110 crores and has grown at 7.7 % since our last report in 2013. This is projected to grow to INR 4, 98, 130 crores at a CAGR of 10% by 2021."

Here are a few points to help aspiring restaurateurs and entrepreneurs to start a restaurant business:

Concept of the restaurant:

Food is one thing, which holds the power to make people forget all the tensions of work or life. And there are plenty o restaurants, where one can find the authentic local cuisines or regional delicacies.

You have to decide before hand what you are going to offer to the customers, who already have their favourite dishes being served in their favourite restaurant. You ought to have something unique and the best to offer or else the customers would not find any reason to visit your restaurant.

Locating Your Brand:

Choose carefully the area, where you are going to set your café up, who all are your competitors in the area, check their menu to make room for yourself, where you can extend your wings.

Check how far is the market, from where you need to get things for your restaurant, such as poultry products, dairy products, grocery items and bakery items or any specific items, which you are going to be part of the dish, which you are going to present to your customer.

The market, which is going to be your regular supplier, should be as near as possible, so that you never run out of stock or least you never have to disappoint your customers.

Face of your restaurant:

If the entrance looks dull and boring even though the restaurant is well decorated inside, it is going to cost you a lot. Better work on interiors as well as exteriors.

There are people who are fond of silent environment to enjoy their food, also there are people who like to talk and laugh while they are eating, thus to satisfy both sides of the characters, one can design a beautiful exterior atmosphere.

A lovely garden or lawn sort of area, where people can chill especially, the youngsters look out for such spaces, where they can hang out with their friends post work or college.

Or the outer decorations should be such that looks pleasing for the elders as well, who like to spend quality time with family and friends.

Licenses and permits:

The required documents, licenses and work permits should be kept ready before opening the restaurant.

Obtaining business licenses is the doorway for any business industry to roll.

Proper legal procedures about taking the lease area and license to serve alcohol in that area and proper ventilation in the kitchen, safety standards in case of emergency should be taken care of even before laying the foundation stone of your business.

Hiring staffs

A restaurant is known by the kind of food it serves, the chefs it has, services it provides and the ambience, thus to maintain all this, hiring the A-one chefs, waiters and waitresses, cleaning staff, kitchen staff, bartenders and wait staff is very important.

Take care of the staffs and they will take care of the quality of services, food and needs of the customer.
